Fupu Tenjing Sherpa has established himself as an accomplished professional in Nepal’s fashion, event management, creative education and entrepreneurship sectors. With more than two decades of industry experience, he has contributed to the evolution of beauty pageantry, fashion events, skills-based education and creative platforms designed to empower Nepal’s emerging generation.
Originally from Taplejung, eastern Nepal, Sherpa completed his school education at Patan High School, Lalitpur, before pursuing management studies alongside a Diploma in Fashion Design. His formal training in fashion provided the foundation for a career that would eventually expand across event production, creative education, entertainment and entrepreneurship.
Sherpa entered the beauty pageant and event-management arena in 2003, beginning with the organization of Kid Queen Pokhara. His activities subsequently expanded to major cities including Dharan, Biratnagar, Chitwan and Kathmandu, where he organized and managed a diverse portfolio of beauty pageants, fashion shows and creative events.
Creating Platforms for Culture and Youth
A distinctive dimension of Sherpa’s work has been his emphasis on cultural representation and youth participation. In 2004, he organized Miss Teen Sherpa and Miss Teen Gurung, followed by Miss Newa in 2005. He later introduced initiatives such as Miss Little Newa and Miss Indigenous Heritage Nepal, creating platforms where cultural identity, youth empowerment, fashion and creative expression could converge.
According to his professional profile, Sherpa has been involved in the organization and management of more than 300 beauty pageants, fashion shows, musical events and corporate programmes since 2003. Sherpa currently serves as Managing Director of IIFT School of Fashion & Interior Design, where he has played an active role in promoting practical, industry-oriented education. He is also Chairman of Sherpa Group, overseeing diverse business and educational initiatives. His entrepreneurial involvement includes the operation of the City Centre Food Court at Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, demonstrating the breadth of his engagement across creative and commercial enterprises.
